It looks like after ‘Speedy Singh’, the film production bug has hit Akshay Kumar hard. The actor has decided to break into the genre of realistic films and guess what theme has caught his fancy? It’s the happenings at the Bigg Boss house! Apparently, Akshay, under his home banner Hari Om Productions, has decided to make a film based on the reality show. Sources say he will helm the cast that will have least 12 actors in important roles.
Few people know that it was TV actress Pratima Kazmi, popular for her role as the formidable Nani of 'Uttaran', who taught a struggling Akshay Kumar Hindi, and after two decades the star offered to give her "gurudakshina".Akshay revealed this at the first edition of Colors' Golden Petal Awards in Mumbai.
"I have something to tell you all about this lady," Akshay said as he spotted Kazmi in the audience of the awards function.
He held her hand and told the audience: "This lady taught me Hindi for six long months in the initial phase of my career when I faced tough times. She is a wonderful person."
When Akshay offered to give her "gurudakshina", a visibly embarrassed Kazmi said: "It is Akshay's zindadili (whole heartedness) which is his best quality and which makes him so admirable. His stunts are so effortless."
At the drop of a hat, Akshay asked her: "Would you like to do any stunt?"
1990s
Kumar made his Bollywood acting debut with the 1991 film Saugandh, which was followed by the 1992 thriller film Khiladi. In 1994, his action films Main Khiladi Tu Anari and Mohra were among the highest grossing films of the year.[8] Later that year, Yash Chopra signed him for the romantic film Yeh Dillagi which was also a success.[8] He received appreciation for his performance in this film, where he played a romantic role which was different compared to his action roles. He would consequently receive his first nominations for Best Actor award at the Filmfare and Star Screen ceremonies. During the same year, Kumar also had success with films like Suhaag and the low budget action film Elaan. All these achievements, promoted Kumar as one of the most successful actors of the year.[9]
